I received my MBA degree in August 2018 under supervision of Dr. David Dingli. After receiving my first feedback from Mr. Dingli, I was a little upset and thought that I will never make it in time. The feedback was very straightforward and Mr. Dingli had clear rules on how to work on the feedback. I started working on the feedback and I started to learn even more why this process was so important. There were moments when I felt tired and was taking too much time to work on feedback. He sent me reminders asking for my progress on the feedback. Mr. Dingli triggered me into thinking critically about everything I wrote in my thesis. He pushed me to the level where I had to take the maximum I could to write a decent thesis. The end result was a pretty good thesis which also gave me the local award of best socio-economic thesis from the union of Economists in Suriname. Mr. Dingli is someone with a lot of experience and he is happy to share that with his students. He is a very friendly man and we still maintain contact. If I ever have the opportunity to choose I supervisor, it would definitely be Mr. Dingli.
As my Thesis Supervisor, Mr. Dingli started with clear and precise agreements on how the process was going to be to be able to graduate. The most interesting and helpful were the agreements on how to communicate with him, formats and commitments. His feedback was always on time, very critical and supportive for me to progress, something that I have appreciated very much. This was especially helpful when things did not advance according to schedule and deadlines.
He allowed me to explore the subject, make it my own and guided me through the frustrations of this journey.
I would recommend him as Thesis Supervisor to anybody that is serious about graduating.

I have known Professor David Dingli since 2015 as a lecturer Supply Chain Management and Knowledge Management & Business Intelligence at the FHR Institute for Social Studies in Suriname. He is a very passionate lecturer who teaches with enthusiasm. His way of teaching shows that he knows how to bridge the gap between his practical experience and the theory.
When approaching the thesis phase, students have the option to indicate 3 thesis supervisors of their choice. Based on my own experience with David as lecturer and experiences MBA alumni shared with me, it was not a difficult task to choose my preferred thesis supervisor. I placed David in the 1st place of my list. After the selection I had the privilege of being assigned my preferred thesis supervisor as desired.
I have experienced David as a top thesis supervisor who provides his comments very critically and in a clear manner. His high level of expertise triggered and motivated me to look more critically at my own work, before sending it back to him. David has demonstrated that he is a very experienced thesis supervisor. He supervised me very well with the theoretical part, but also provided me with insights of the statistical part of my thesis, which have broadened my research view. I was impressed with his reading speed, because David never let 5 days pass to give feedback on my thesis chapters. As a result, I finished writing my thesis on time.
I became very inspired by David, so after my MBA study I started working on an internship and thesis supervisor at FHR School of Business. What I have learned regarding thesis supervision and research I try to transfer to my students such as the way I experienced it with David.
I'm glad that I had David as my supervisor for my final MBA assessment. He was always helpful and gave appropriate instructions to me to grow throughout the thesis time.
His first email gave instructions about how to work together and documents that might help me in developing and writing my thesis, e.g., Proposal guidelines, Academic writing skills, using sources and avoiding plagiarism, APA referencing, Formulation of research questions, Research methods.
He is fast in giving comments on the student's works. When he was busy, he informed me in advance and let me know clearly the time when he was available. It helped me especially in the time closer to the submission date.
He let me take the lead and do as I wished, and he guided accordingly. There were no forceful thoughts, he always gave the pros and cons, and let the me choose independently. There’s the time when I felt hopeless because of this style when I didn’t know exactly where to go. However, after that, I realized this way was the best since I could justify, and act based on my circumstances and be responsible for my decisions.
Besides giving good advice in a good way, he made the right decision when he encouraged me to "take the lead, carry out the final formatting adjustments, add all the missing sections and submit". I was able to finish everything thanks to this "take the lead" attitude.
Last but not least, he supported me on time by sending the last email reminding me about the things that I needed to check before submitting. This helped me to make the paper look good.
All in all, I highly recommend David in the role of a supervisor.

David J. Dingli is one of the best supervisors I have ever had. He really gave careful consideration to my ideas and managed to strike the balance between challenging me and encouraging me.
He really engaged with what I had written each time and guided me to areas of the discussion that I hadn’t previously thought of, or was too philosophically shy to critique.
I’ve always really doubted my work despite getting regular good grades and he helped me have confidence in what I was writing on.
I’m really grateful to him for that. I really appreciate him.
During my final thesis in my master’s program, I had Professor David J. Dingli as my supervisor and guide. Throughout the term, professor Dingli has been a great support. From helping me in finalizing my area of study to guiding me in data analysis, interpretation, Professor’s expertise and co-operation helped me in finally completing my thesis as well as defence with more than satisfactory results.
Professor Dingli had also always encouraged learning by the student for sustainable growth and development. Professor had also been supportive of a few decisions I made although, he was not fully in accordance with them. Professor Dingli’s supervision and guidance were proven to be essential and highly successful for me.

From my opinion, I've had the honour of working with one of the best supervisors a student could wish for!
Professor Dingli was really engaged with what I had written each time and guided me to areas of improvement that I hadn't previously thought of. Not only did Professor Dingli help me to have confidence in my research, but his expertise, as well as kind and detailed guidance, played a critical role in the success of my research project.
I highly enjoyed and benefited from working and communicating with professor Dingli throughout the process of writing and finalizing my thesis and I am forever thankful for his supervision.
“Mr. Dingli helped me to complete my EMBA by being my thesis supervisor... the one anyone should have.
Completing an MBA while having a full-time job, makes it hard to even complete stuff within your own set up milestones. Because of his daily work as a consultant, Mr. Dingli better than anyone understands the difficulty of multitasking. But weather it had been a week or a month you found the time to respond with some new content, his answer was within a day.
Well analysed, supportive, but always the first to make you go a bit further. A true mentor... the one anyone should have”.

"My experience with prof. David Dingli as thesis supervisor was one which not only extended my knowledge on thesis research & -writing but also one which trained me to develop my critical thinking skills and an increased passion for data analyses. Throughout my thesis writing journey I gained so much more insight on how to conduct a research in a structured and reliable way. I could also see Prof. Dingli’s years of experience and passion in the area of thesis supervision through his swift responses on questions and concerns I had along the way.
I am normally not a statistics person, but I was inspired by Prof. Dingli's feedback to study the statistical tools to get more insights out of the data. I developed a passion for data analyses, and I am proud to say that in 2020 my thesis report was selected and nominated as one of the top 5 MBA thesis reports in Suriname. Therefore, I would highly recommend Prof. Dingli again as thesis supervisor, consultant and mentor within any area related to thesis writing, Supply Chain, R&D and data analyses."
Dr. David Dingli is one of our most prestigious lecturers who has been on our Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program for over 15 years now, teaching in our MBA Intakes 2-15 and supervising more than 50 MBA students since 2004.
Known to us as a highly competent, dedicated and committed supervisor with a lot of experience which he effectively relates to his guidance by linking academic knowledge and practical reality, resulting into the delivery of some of our highest graded thesis.
Stimulating our students to develop a curious and critical attitude, he is considered a strict though pleasant personality and highly reliable and trustworthy. He is has shown to be able to inspire and encourage students to get the most out of their thesis and achieve the best grade.
To conclude I have also experienced David as a very challenging, but always fair and motivating thesis examiner, always sharing his passion for research and effectively and compassionately guiding students through the final exam.

“From day 1 he was very strict and honest. After the school announced that David Dingli would supervise me, I was very nervous. Later that day I received a very long mail from him about his rules, even more nervous I became. The more I mailed and talked to him the more I found out that he is very helpful. Trust me, he’s very helpful. I got his reaction as soon as possible, which is rare with other supervisors. Whenever I was in trouble with writing and had very little motivation, he was always there to support me.
Listening to the other students how much they complain about their supervisors, I am very grateful to have Profs. Dingli. If I would describe Profs. Dingli I would say: Discipline skills, good Intentions, nothing but very Nice, Great qualities, Listening skills and Empathy is the medicine the world needs. Thank You Professor!”
“I had the opportunity and pleasure to have David Dingli as my Master of Business Administration thesis supervisor on FHR a couple months back. When I started with my thesis journey with a supervisor, I was not really sure what to expect. I knew Mr. David already from the “Supply Chain” courses as an excellent mentor and professor but having him as a thesis supervisor could be different. The only hope I had from the beginning was to get constructive and timely feedback, and maybe some encouragement.
From my fellow-student I understood that this was the biggest challenge to successfully finish a thesis. What I got from Mr. David was the whole package. He was encouraging, but he was also, as he put it, a critical and “no-nonsense” supervisor. In other words, he suggested, he edited, he pointed out the bad and the good and most of all, feedback was received within 3-4 working days. This was really outstanding and encouraging. I continued with my thesis and Mr. Dingli helped me to turn an unwieldy flow of my thesis into a more constructive and cleaner academic thesis. Most importantly, he helped me to “see” those things that make a thesis less professional, less “finished” where I could learn from it to become better and better. Mr. David is a great teacher, and a great supervisor. I highly recommend him as a thesis supervisor”.
